BACKGROUND

Proberly one of the best British TV comedies ever, Blackadder started out from
humble beginnings into a top rated show that was an instant classic.

Each series followed the life of one Edmund Blackadder and his different incarnations
through the centuries. We start in medievel England and end up in the trenches of
the Great War in 1917.

The key elements of the show were Curtis, Elton and Atkinson who broke new ground
in UK comedy by presenting well crafted (and even educational at times),s harp and
absurd scenarios for the characters to dwell in. It was also helped by an excellent
supporting cast which included Rik Mayall, Robbie Coltrane and Peter Cook.

It returned as a special one off show at the Millenium Dome in 2000 and was very much a hit and
miss affair but it was great to see all the gang back together again.
