BACKGROUND

A motley band of men provide Walmington-on-Sea's last line of defence against the
Nazi hordes. Jimmy Perry's and David Crofts' masterpiece of situation comedy and
characterization is one of the most fondly remembered TV shows of all time.

Commanded by pompous bank manager Captain Mainwaring (Arthur Lowe), he's assisted
by his chief clerk, Sergeant Wilson (John Le Mesurier) as well as Lance Corporal Jones
(Clive Dunn) as an old soldier, renowned for his frequent cries of "Don't Panic!".

There was also Private Frazer (John Laurie) as a miserable old Scotsman and Private
Pike (Ian Lavender) as a bit of a 'mummy's boy'. His mother (Janet Davies) is Sergeant
Wilson's long-time girlfriend but which Pike hasn't a clue about. 

Classy, original and timeless, they don't make 'em like they used to.
