Originally conceived as an educational childrens series it went on to become a worldwide
success and has a following equally rivalling Star Trek. It continues to thrive in the fan
scene and it refuses to bow down gracefully. 

Although the BBC seemed neglectful for many years, it was both a shock and suprise
to read the announcment in Setember 2003 of the shows return under the guidance

The first episode was delayed in transmission due to the assasination of President Kennedy
in November 1963. 

As he was too ill to appear properly in 1973's The Three Doctors, Hartnell's scenes were
pre-filmed and inserted into the action during studio recording in 1972. 

In the mid-seventies, the UNIT team were nearly given their own spin-off show.

Horror of Fang Rock is the only Who story where the entire cast are killed off except for
The Doctor and Leela. 

The Daleks nearly appeared in the third series of Blakes 7! 

In 1975 Tom Baker and Ian Marter tried to get a new Who movie into production with horror
legend Vincent Price as the villain in Doctor Who meets Scratchman.

The new series opening episode Rose, achieved a peak of 10.5 million viewers.
