BACKGROUND

Is there anything left to say about the most influential Science Fiction shows of all time.
Following the exploits of the Starship Enterprise under the command of James T.Kirk, it broke
the mold of TV science fiction by telling quality stories with intelligence and conviction.

Considering that most shows were of the Lost in Space type, this must have come as a breath
of fresh air to the television viewer. Although it faced cancellation throughout it's run, a loyal
fan base (the first of it's kind) continued to support the show even after it was axed in 1969
and the programme found it's popularity rocket when it went into syndication.

A cartoon followed in 1974 with most of the original cast providing their vocal talents which resulted in
pre-production on a new series called Star Trek-Phase II (1976). With the advent of Star Wars in 1977
the series was repackaged for the big screen and in 1979 Star Trek-The Motion Picture was released.

The rest as they say...is history!

TRIVIA FAX

Actor Malcolm Mcdowell received hatemail and even death threats from sad fans when
his character Soran killed Captain Kirk at the end of Star Trek-Generations (1994).

Actor Martin Landau (Mission:Impossible, Space 1999, X-Files movie) had auditioned
for the role of Spock.

Star Trek II-The Wrath of Khan (1982) was a sequel to the season one episode Space Seed.

Walter Koenig went onto star in that other Sci-Fi classic Babylon 5 as evil telepath Bester.

In 1994, Doctor Who met Star Trek when Jon Pertwee was asked by a UK morning TV show
to interview William Shatner via satellite in which Shatner said that he could play the Doctor!!!
