INTRODUCTION We we’re invited down to Clapham Wood by Patricia so we decided to make it our first location for new Paranormal Radio Show Tuning In. Joining us was the show’s founders Paul Alland and Medium Paul Cissell for a walk round this fascinating and ancient place.
HISTORY & FOLKLORE The infamous Clapham Wood has for many years been classed by many people as haunted with reports of strange lights in the sky along with unexpected temperature drops. The wood is situated in the South Downs in West Sussex, England. A hollow Oak Tree stands sentry to the entrance of the wood and within are a series of clearings containing ruins of old cottages. People and animals are also reported to have gone missing in the wood, including a rector of Clapham Church who disappeared without trace in 1979 but this cannot be proved. It has been linked many times with Occult activities although there has been no real documented evidence. WALK ROUND We we’re also joined by Occult Expert Charles Walker who had a rich knowledge of the folklore and events surrounding the area. Alan was already picking up on a woman near the Church with Charles adding that there have been several attacks here on women in the past. Armed with a mic and recording device, Presenter Paul Alland interviewd Paul Cissell, asking if he was picking up anything and he said that he felt both a young child around him. Alan was also sensing a male figure following the group who seemed enquisitive at what we doing. He sensed the man was murdered her many years ago and this has also been picked up by other mediums who have visited here. With the weather becoming worse, we arrived at the Beech Tree in the middle of the Wood. There are many stories and legends concerning pagan activities in this area and Alan seemed to be picking up on this. Paul also was sensing a lot of sensations around the tree and a figure with blood on his hands. Suprisingly, Alan witnessed an alleged mail figure walking past the tree and this was evidentaly caught on Debbie’s camera but the footage was accidently lost so we cannot comfirm anything! We continued walking around until the weather got the better of us and we called it a night. CONCLUSION Clapham Wood is indeed an eerie place. The many legends and myths that have built up around this place over the years have contributed greatly to its oppressive atmosphere. A week later, other mediums who have been to Clapham Wood confirmed Paul’s sensing of a male with blood on his hands as did the male Alan was picking up on. This is a place we wish to come back to and explore further as I think tonight only touched on the surface of this unusual place. |
