INTRODUCTION An unseen presence and strange occurrences bring the Spiral Team to investigate a private house in Epsom. Property Owner Lianne originally contacted us through our psychic Alan at a Trance Demonstration and explained that she believed her house to be active. She had moved there in 2002 and over the last couple of years has felt a strong negative presence in the building. As a developing psychic (her Grandmother was a medium), Lianne has always felt most uncomfortable in the garage area which is now located from the kitchen as the front is blocked up. Her daughter has sensed a presence in her bedroom and Lianne has felt physical pressure upon her body that has been very upsetting. When things started getting out of control in 2006, she brought in Mediums from Sutton Spiritualist Church to see what could be done. With the unexplainable events still occurring, Lianne called in Spiral to investigate.
THE TEAM ARRIVE On the day of the investigation, Lianne had been very upset with what was going on in the house and Team Member Sally (a Reiki Master) came over early to help with cleansing and comforting her. Marq filmed an interview with Lianne as the rest of the team arrived. We were pleased to welcome guest members Kim, Zoe and Ben for the evening and although Kim and Zoe had been on investigations before with Alan, Ben had no previous knowledge of what to expect and it would be interesting to see what he thought afterwards. Alan took time out alone in the garage to condition himself for the evening and told Marq after that he felt a pressure against his stomach and hopefully would eveal more as the night progresses. After being given protection by Alan, we were ready to start the investigation.
GARAGE We started off in the garage, an area that Lianne has been most uncomfortable with. Everyone seemed to sense a heavy atmosphere here as Alan started picking up on a woman. As we began to call out, Lianne started feeling unwell and surprised us all by leaving the area. Sally and Marq followed her out to make sure she was all right. Although still upset, Lianne explained on camera that she felt a tight pressure against her throat as though something was forcing to crook her head back. We went back and joined the others for a while longer in the garage. Kim started to feel very emotional and had tears in her eyes, which she pointed out was very unusual for her. Alan was now definitely sensing a woman here who seems to have taken her own life back in either the Nineteen Fifties or Sixties. He felt a strong pressure around his stomach and a sharp pain across his wrist. Eventually, Alan sensed that the presence had dispersed for the time being so we decided to move on.
BEDROOMS Moving upstairs to Lianne’s daughter’s bedroom, Alan picked up on a man who wanted us to leave as well as something touching his face. A few light anomalies were also caught in here with one apparently in motion. Alan again picked up on the woman again and had a mental image of a lady with long black hair. We turned our attention to Lianne’s bedroom where a lot of activity has been reported. Lianne told us that her portable CD player never works for long as the batteries drain very quickly. Alan and Lianne sat on the bed and she explained that she usually sleeps downstairs for part of the night. Lianne felt a pressure on her rib cage as we heard an unexplained sound by the door. Alan began to get a clearer picture of the alleged spirits in the house. He said that he was picking up on a male who seemed to be the violent husband of the woman. He added that the man prevents the woman from doing what she wishes and he had contributed to her suicide. Alan also picked up on the following dialogue – ‘she won’t leave until he leaves’! With all electrical appliances unplugged, there was a strong EMF reading around Lianne (as had happened at The Old Rectory). The EMF meter was registering a very high reading that was almost ridiculous and we all wanted to test the validity of the equipment. We plugged in the only electrical appliance (a lamp) and when switched on, the meter registered as normal and nothing when unplugged again. As Lianne felt something touch her head, the meter kicked in again. Sally fetched a second EMF reader but bizarrely, this registered nothing except when doing the electrical tests on appliances. Surely they should both be picking up the same readings? Interestingly, the first meter reading would at one point detect nothing and then on a second attempt would register an EMF flux. We continued with various experiments before taking a break. We decided that it might be a good idea for the girls to do a lone vigil without the men to try and bring this male force forward. On this occasion, we did not give the girls a camera and Lianne said afterwards that they heard a tapping from the television and an alleged groan.
ORBS / LIVING ROOM During the break, Ben took the opportunity to show us various light anomalies he had captured on his digital camera. Sally then mentions that she has a slight scar on her left wrist that was not there before (similar to Alan’s pressure on his wrist earlier in the garage). This was fresh and she had not been near any sharp objects that she could recall during the investigation. While everyone relaxed, Duncan set up an enhanced audio microphone in the garage which fed through to a PC Laptop. He set the recording going and left alone as we resumed the investigation in the front living room. As we all settled into the environment, Alan felt the spirit man right up against his face! Ben also felt cold (which is unusual as he works outdoors and rarely feels a chill) as a few more light anomalies were caught on camera.
SPARE ROOM / GARAGE Our last location to investigate was the spare room. We tried something that we had not done before (although others had) which was glass divination. We attempted this with the girls only and once again, the EMF meter registered high readings but nothing moved on the board. Both Marq and Alan used a crystal for a reaction to alleged spirit in the room, which proved more successful. Indeed, Ben captured a light anomaly on his camera that was directly above the crystal (a rose quartz) that Alan was using. Duncan called Marq into the garage where he was reviewing the audio recordings and was unsure of what was on the audio track. It sounded like a single tapping noise that was intermittent during the thirty-minute recording. Although no one was in the vicinity, we don’t believe it was anything paranormal but we are still open minded about what we had captured.
CONCLUSION The investigation at the Epsom House had proved more interesting than we originally thought. We had captured quite a few light anomalies and with certain members of the crew becoming emotional during the evening, we decided that a cleansing needed to be done to help Lianne. Both Alan and Sally performed their own clearing of the negative spirit in the atmosphere. Sally used her skills as a Reiki Master to cleanse the oppressive force. A few days later, Alan spoke to Lianne and she was much happier in her home. The negative atmosphere seemed to have vanished and the ambience of the house had returned to normal. |
