INTRODUCTION Having been contacted by Karen Fowler, a Paranormal Investigator and psychic who wished to have an investigation filmed, Marq, Alan and Vicky joined Karen, her husband Andrew, David Vee (TV’s Haunted Homes) Dan, Kieran and Dave from Extreme Paranormal. On arrival, we met with David Dee and Karen who are psychic mediums, along with Kieran and David (whom Vicky had interesting conversations with about experiences with the spiritual world). After some conversation and listening to David and Kieran play some cool tunes on the guitar we were informed that the place we were actually heading to was Abingdon Town Football Club. We were all surprised as we thought the investigation was in a Victorian house…as it tuned out, this was one of our best investigations to date! Abingdon Town Football Club was founded in 1870 and is the sixth oldest Football club in the UK.
ARRIVAL / HAUNTINGS On arriving at the club, there was a teenage party wrapping up and the Manager who runs the place came over and spoke to us about his experiences. He had experienced seeing a person in the grounds of the club and upon approaching him, had disappeared. He told the team of a male that died in the boiler room in the 1950's from gas poisoning and his wife would not go down there. He did not believe in ghosts as such but needed some kind of explanation for these experiences.
BAR AREA Setting up base in the bar area, David and Kieran set up locked off cameras directed at different points in the room. Alan and Dan were beginning to pick up on an Edwardian gentleman with a forked moustache in the corner of the room, as did Dan. Vicky was walking across the stage in the club when she felt something blow in her ear. She then felt a bit shaky about going to the toilet on her own!
BOILER ROOM We set up three coins as a trigger object in a small back room whilst the rest of us held a vigil next door in the Boiler Room. Although some of us had not worked with each other before, we were quite taken aback by an apparent possession of Karen by spirit. Although very few audible words were spoken, she kept indicating that numerous bodies were buried underneath the building by patting on the floor. Alan was also sensing this but remained quiet as not to influence any information. Eventually Karen came back with the help of her partner Andrew. Alan managed to capture some light anomalies in this area.
FIRST FLOOR MEETING ROOM Things started slowly as we didn’t arrive at the location until 22.30 and had to wait for the punters to leave. But then it kicked off, we had Karen (a psychic) allegedly having two possessions during the night but it was the communication circle around a small table in the meeting room upstairs that changed my outlook overnight…Alan led the séance and we had very loud and definite taps on the table to almost all questions asked. This was done in two sessions, as spirit did not seem to want me to film the first time so I sat in on it (we had a Dictaphone though). Alan asked to tap once for ‘yes’ and twice for ‘no’. Silence, then a tap on the table, then continued tapping from the questions being asked (such as were you male or female etc). Alan asked if there was more than one spirit in the room. One after another there were taps and we counted seven. Alan asked if our energies combined with spirits could lift the table? After a few minutes the table lifted towards each of us. Now, taps would have been good enough but when the table elevated many times on command, we could hardly believe what we were seeing. Marq had always questioned this sort of table tipping in the past but he seems to have been proven wrong. Marq was also constantly checking under the table to make sure everyone’s feet were away from the legs of the table. It’s worth noting, the table was also quite heavy. We were all pretty amazed, the table then tilted further to one side. As this was happening, we realised that the Dictaphone was just sitting in the middle of the table, when the table tilted to one side, the Dictaphone never moved! One of course would expect it to slide off the table but it just sat there. Vicky lifted the Dictaphone off the table and it was obviously not stuck there at all. During this session, spirit did not want to be filmed and we an felt irritation in the air. Alan asked another time 'Are you sure you do not want us to film you?' and there was another tap. Luckily on the second session, Marq managed to get plenty of video footage of this phenomena and is very compelling evidence of spirit activity. Marq filmed the table from all angles to make sure no foul play was at work. Alan took a few pictures in the room and there was a light anomaly under the table after we had finished table tipping. Another photo showed a very large bright orb travelling along the room. Alan had taken many photos throughout the club and in every area captured light anomalies on camera. As we started to leave the meeting room, we realised that the trigger objects (3 coins) had moved whilst all the table communication going on.
CONCLUSION Abingdon Town Football Club had been an incredible location to investigate with the highlight of course, being the communication circle around the table in the meeting room. With strong tapping to questions and the table tipping on command, we still have no satisfactory explanation for this event. This was one of our best (and unexpected) investigations so far and we hope to get back again. |
