INTRODUCTION Marq was invited by Norie Miles to film and be involved with a filmed promotional investigation for various upcoming Charity Events involving David Wells and Pat Cruise. Although the small team had been here before (most notably for David on one of the Most Haunted Live’s), this was Marq’s first visit here and had no pre-knowledge of the building or its alleged activity. HISTORY Wymering Manor was recorded in the Doomsday Book and is the oldest house in Portsmouth. From 1042 it belonged to King Edward the Confessor and after the Battle of Hastings in 1066 it became the property of King William the Conqueror. Its current structure is early 16th century and the area is linked with St Peter & St Paul’s Church and Churchyard. Wymering Manor was owned by Portsmouth City Council for over forty years and during that time it was leased to the Youth Hostel Association. It is reported that there is between twenty and thirty alleged spirits in the Manor. The Manor is now owned privately.
MUSIC ROOM / KITCHEN We started off filming some introductions with Pat and David before heading off to the Music Room on the ground floor. Walking into the area, Pat asked what David was picking up on and immediately he said that he didn’t like the room and singing is the last thing he would do here. He was sensing a military figure that was proberly connected to Portsmouth’s Naval history. David said that this man was a ‘pusher and a shover’ as Pat thought odd noises we’re being heard outside the room which Marq heard as well. With everyone sensing a heavy atmosphere here; we decided to move to the kitchen. David was getting a strong connection with Monks here and said they brisk in and out of the atmosphere. FIRST FLOOR / ROOM 6 As we moved upstairs to the First Floor, Norie thought she saw a female figure down the hallway as we entered one of the rooms. David was picking up on a variety of spirits including children and monks. We had all decided for Pat to go into Room 6 alone with only the camera for company. Once on his own, he could hear a few taps (most proberly the ambience of the building) and odd shadows until he let out an enormous scream at a figure in the doorway! Unfortunately, this turned out to be Norie who crept in the room to surprise him, which did the trick! CONCLUSION After a short séance in the Living Room where David was picking up on the Military figure from before, we ended our time here. We filmed a few inserts to camera with David and Pat to promote the upcoming Charity Events. Wymering Manor has been a very interesting place to explore and looking forward to returning here in August 2008 for a special investigation with David and Phil Whyman / Dead Huanted Nights. |
